Freshfield Grove is owned by Fiona and Glenn Makowski, who bought the farm including the 1000 tree olive grove in 2014. Glenn lived away from Tasmania for many years and was keen to return, while Fiona fell in love with the island state on her first visit to Australia from the UK, and dreamed of calling it home.
Based in the heart of the Coal River Valley, Freshfield Grove is only 20 minutes from Hobart airport, and 30 minutes from Hobart’s CBD. It's a little spot of paradise, which includes wineries, boutique cheese and chocolate makers, walnut farms, fruit orchards, breweries, distilleries, and arts and crafts.
Fiona and Glenn didn't know anything about growing or pressing olives when they started but have enjoyed the journey so far, and look forward to many more years of learning about this ancient crop.
